Keep Calm and Carry On!

I keep seeing Keep Calm and Carry On everywhere and today while I was looking for cupcake wrappers I saw it on Robert Gordan's website, printed on a milk bottle of all things! It's become a shabby/retro slogan!

And for those of the who are interested, it was one of three posters printed by the British Government during World War II in bold colours with the symbol of the king's crown. The plan was that if Germany invaded, all of these posters would be issued. As history tells, Germany did not invade and so the posters were burnt, bar a couple which got kept and later auctioned off. Apparently a couple still exist in the Imperial War Museum in London. How Brainy am I ??!! (source: www.keepcalmandcarryon.com).

Now these guys have keep calm printed on ev-er-ry-thing! but....when I searched for cupcake toppers, I saw this: no results! *gasp*

Personalised Wedding Cupcake Toppers

Since moving to Australia, I have become slightly obsessed with paper craft, especially now that I have access to a Lincraft and a sewing machine! So I have introduced some non-edible cupcake toppers into my cupcake designs and my ETSY store.

Here is our first wedding cupcake topper, although you could write anything on top for any occasion!

These are fully customisable, different fonts, names, sayings, colours...

So cute for a wedding!

Caramel Cupcakes

Another fabulous recipe... caramel cupcakes! Something delicious, something a bit different. They are scrummy yummy, no complaints in my house!! Forget that diet and put cinnamon cream cheese frosting or the original vanilla butter cream. Either way you won't be disappointed!

Makes 12 flat cupcakes to the top of the case (4cm) as shown in the picture.

Recipe:
110 grams (butter at room temp)
2 eggs
100 grams of light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
1-2 tsp of caramel essence (can get online from baking pleasures approx 6$)
140 grams of self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder

Directions:
1. Beat the eggs, sugar and butter together.
2. Add the essence
3. Sift in the SR flour and baking powder and mix in by hand
4. Put 1 tbs in each cupcake case and bake in oven for 10 mins at 170 degrees Celsius.

Enjoy!
